Hawnby Parish Council Meeting Thursday 9th January 2020
Present : Mandy Sowray, Alan Wood, Jamie Savile, Gabi Howes, Tom Storrar, Sonia Leeming and Nigel Buckle
Apologies : Caz Sayer
Meeting opened at 7pm with the minutes of the last meeting 19.9.2019 being read and agreed
Matters Arising :
-Softer bulb to be placed in light at bottom of village by NB
-Daletown track planning permission has now been withdrawn
-Finances £2116.76 with only outstanding expense was the hedge cutting at Fangdale Beck to be paid
-Planning for Mill House has been refused as a negative effect on a listed building and issues with parking - the
estate are working with the National Parks to overcome issues
-Planning for the shepherds huts was also refused with issues as they were not sited within an established
woodland, changes to this policy are due but again ongoing with the estate and National Parks
-Works on the hotel are ongoing and builders are due to hand over to incoming tenants at the end of January for the
final fit
-Works on the new buildings at Murton have been halted due to issues with opening up of windy pits
SL gave a report on the October Parish Forum held at Coxwold and the meeting 14.4.2020 will be hosted by
Hawnby
Ideas for village improvements were discussed :
-JS suggested the phone box to be painted and 3 quotes will be gained for this, possible uses were discussed and
SL will investigate implications of installing defibrillator
-Possible sites for new benches and signage on main road were discussed as well as ways to bring more visitors to
village
-Possibilities of a cycle event in June are currently in planning with the estate and Yorkshire Mountain Bikes, with
more to information as it becomes available
NB had paid for the website renewal and was reimbursed by cheque
