Hawnby Parish Council Meeting 17/5/2018

Members present: J.C.Harris, N.Buckle, A.Wood & M.Sayer

Matters discussed as follows:

1.Apologies – J.Saville

2.Minutes of last meeting – All correct

3.Matters arising – A.Wood can now sign cheques on behalf of the council.

4.Change of electricity supplier – the council has now changed from N.Power to Eon as there is no standing charge; therefore it should be cheaper and can be paid by

cheque. All light bulbs in the street lights are to be changed to LED 5kw bulbs by next year to reduce costs.

5.Consultation on the introduction of charges for parish council elections – By 2023 NYCC are suggesting a £50 charge for each election to reimburse costs and would like

councils opinions. J.C.Harris to voice Hawnby parish councils views which are that the time scale is reasonable but it should not be any more than £50 as the council only

receive £880 per year.

6. Ryevitalise Landscape partnership scheme – deferred to next meeting as the funding is not yet guaranteed.

7.Parish website – the website is now up and running, the cost of setting it up has being covered by transparency funding. C.Sayer to look into funding for the running costs

of the website for this year.

8.Financial report – The council currently has £1391.16 with the electric bill still to pay. N.Buckle to chase up bill for Fangdale Beck. The annual audit figures checked and

C.Sayer to put on website.

9.Co-opting of members – Councillors to try and find younger members willing to come onto the council and preferably someone from Fangdale Beck / Bilsdale.

10.Report on western area forum – Broadband for the local area is now at stage three with BT, stage four is currently unknown but by 2022 the internet should be available

to everyone locally. Highways are to look into subcontractors working with traffic lights on the road and Suttonbank are to provide a further 84 car parking spaces to accommodate events.

11.Any other business – N.Buckle attended two National Parks meetings about local planning but found little of interest. No other members attending on the future.
